Model Thermal-Fluid Behavior Faster
Transient CFD analysis often requires extremely long run times. RadTherm lets you cut development time by importing CFD results for multiple time steps of a transient analysis (convection coefficient and thin film temperatures). You can generate these CFD data sets with distinct steady-state runs, greatly reducing run time compared to a transient CFD run. Data exchange is handled via a simple text file. RadTherm reads this file, interpolates for all thermal solution time steps and rapidly yields a full transient thermal solution (including radiation and conduction, and environmental parameters, such as solar radiation). The RadTherm solution runtime is typically shorter than CFD by orders of magnitude. TAI utilizes a state-of-the-art voxel-based ray tracer to compute radiation view factors and solar projected (apparent) areas. With RadTherm, you have the fastest radiation exchange solver on the market coupled to your CFD code.

To further accelerate your thermal solution run time, TAI's Mesh-Mapper application can reassign your high mesh density CFD results to a lower density mesh, yielding very rapid thermal solutions.

Your transparent (glass) model parts are accurately modeled using RadTherm's Transparent part type: these components are modeled as transparent to solar radiation but opaque to IR.

Increase Accuracy
TAI Software offers your team realistic environments. Our terrain model incorporates the full effects of solar shadowing, multiple reflections, and reradiation of geometric features (e.g., radiation exchange between vehicle exhaust systems and asphalt road surfaces). TAI software's predictions have been thoroughly validated by third party measurements of operating vehicle systems and against theoretical solutions. Extensive validation examples are available here.

Evaluate Designs Rapidly
RadTherm provides you with a built-in convection library. Many automotive companies perform several design iterations using our built-in wind convection model prior to starting a fully integrated CFD - RadTherm simulation. Answer your "What if" design questions quickly and with minimal effort by altering the model parameters in the GUI, and rerunning. The model view factor calculations are stored for you and reused, saving time and bringing your products to market faster.
