On Demand Webinar
Windshield defrost simulation is a powerful alternative to traditional wind tunnel and cold chamber testing. This is because such testing can be costly and time-intensive. Ensuring clear windshield and side window visibility in cold weather is a critical aspect of vehicle development. Simulation makes it possible to validate defrost performance and refine designs early in the development process.
In this webinar, we showcased how TAITherm enables engineers to accurately simulate the phase change process and validate defrost performance. At the same time, it helps ensure compliance with safety regulations. We demonstrated how to integrate 1D HVAC models with 3D thermal/CFD simulations to assess the combined effects of airflow, glazing materials, and heating elements. As a result, viewers gain insight into extracting key performance metrics. In addition, we covered various simulation workflows, from high-fidelity analyses to accelerated methodologies for rapid design studies.
Key Takeaways
- Three-tool coupling for an accurate defrost solution.
- Validating physical test requirements using TAITherm to extract key performance metrics.
- Demonstrating how RapidFlow can enable rapid design studies, with a strong tradeoff between computational time and accuracy.
Who Should Watch
- Thermal, HVAC, CFD, and Simulation Engineers looking to improve defrost system design and evaluate airflow, heating, and glazing interactions through simulation. This also applies to those performing defrost performance validation as part of a vehicle development program.
- Automotive OEMs & Suppliers developing defrost solutions or interested in design studies.
- Researchers developing simulation and validation methods.
